As a Manager of Prevention Programs and Services, you will part of leading a dynamic team in the development and implementation of programs that drive improvements in workplace health and safety across the province.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of WorkSafeBC's mission by managing the development of Prevention programs, providing expert guidance, and driving initiatives that create safer workplaces. You will be responsible for overseeing budgets, leading staff, and collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of safety initiatives. We are filling this Manager, Prevention Programs and Services role in one of the following locations:
  • Richmond
  • Nanaimo
How you'll make a difference: You'll help ensure B.C. workers go home safely at the end of their workday.

Where you'll work
In this role, you will work primarily from our Richmond or Nanaimo Office, with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.
  • Oversee the operations of the team to ensure effective service delivery to industry, labor, workers, and employers, while managing staff and performance.
  • Lead the development and implementation of programs that support the strategic objectives of WorkSafeBC, ensuring they are tailored to meet the needs of various stakeholders.
  • Offer direction and support to staff on policies, business plans, and operational matters, ensuring that WorkSafeBC and Divisional policies are effectively implemented.
  • Build and nurture strong working relationships with key external and internal stakeholders, including industry associations, health & safety groups, government agencies, and WorkSafeBC departments.
  • Represent WorkSafeBC in External Forums: Represent the organization at meetings, committees, and industry events.
  • Track the success of implemented programs, conduct research and analysis, and make adjustments to ensure continuous improvement in achieving workplace safety objectives.
  • Plan, develop, and manage the annual operating budget for the assigned area, monitoring financial performance and taking corrective action as needed.
We're looking for someone who can:
  • Lead teams and provide guidance to staff, by guiding and mentoring them to ensure alignment with organizational goals and policies.
  • Effectively navigate ambiguity, adapting strategies and approaches as needed to drive results.
  • You thrive in a collaborative and complex environment, working with both internal teams and external stakeholders to drive program success and promote safety.
  • Demonstrate a keen understanding of organizational dynamics and effectively manage relationships with key stakeholders to influence decisions and drive success.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs aimed at improving workplace health and safety.
  • Present information to senior executives, industry groups, and other stakeholders to drive support for initiatives.
Your background and experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in progressive leadership roles , with a demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
  • At least 2 years of experience specifically in occupational health and safety or program implementation.
We'll consider equivalent combinations of education and experience.

Salary: $116,186 - $141,166/yearly
