Satellite Systems Architect - #61930

About the Job:
Mindwire is currently seeking a Satellite Systems Architect to work for our valued Private Sector client.

The position is in Ottawa, Ontario and requires the successful consultant to be on-site 3 days a week in Ottawa, Ontario.

Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define Satellite system architecture, system requirements, and network element (including satellite) specifications, ensuring alignment with project goals and customer needs. Leverage modeling capabilities from System Modeling to validate candidate key operating concepts, and work with System Engineering to define and validate requirements.
    • Contribute to the design and development of key aspects such as end-to-end communication, resource allocation mechanisms, network entry mechanism, network element management systems, service availability, EPFD compliance and coordination mechanisms, satellite payload power consumption management, resource utilization efficiency, spectrum management, user terminal type integration, and concepts of operation.
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers in the System Design team.
    • Develop and maintain Satellite system architecture documentation, including subsystems definition, interfaces, and data flows, to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the system.
    • Identify and manage technical risks related to the system design and develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans as needed.
    • Create and maintain documentation as required.
    • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders as required to ensure project success.
Requirements and Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in satellite system architecture and design, with a minimum of 15 years in similar roles.
    • Strong knowledge of satellite communication protocols, orbital mechanics, and Space Systems.
    • Experience with software defined satellite communication payloads.
    • Familiarity with regulatory bodies and space industry standards.
    • Creative problem-solver with thorough attention to detail.
    • Highly collaborative team-player who can quickly earn the confidence of co-workers and teammates.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams and partners / suppliers.
    • Experience with business considerations and practical limitations related to system design and implementation.
    • Ability to prioritize opportunities, needs and resources.
