Hourly: $52.41-$114.65/hour; Per Three Credit Course: $7,947; Actual salary or hourly rate will be based on the number of credits and term of appointment according to the Collective Agreement.
The Opportunity
The Therapeutic Recreation Department is seeking a contract faculty for the Summer 2025 academic term to teach practicum/internship courses: THRT 2333, THRT 2444, and THRT 2455. Location of work is variable.

WHAT IT TAKES
The Therapeutic Recreation Department currently offers a 2-year Therapeutic Recreation Diploma and a 4-year Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation that prepares students for eligibility to become a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.

The Therapeutic Recreation Department is a unique program, recognized as an innovative program leader with a strong academic and research based curriculum in addition to numerous opportunities for experiential learning throughout both the Diploma and Bachelor Degree programs. Graduates from both the Diploma and Degree programs are career ready or, if desired, some Degree graduates choose to continue into a variety of Graduate level programs.

As a faculty member, you will be required to instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in therapeutic recreation courses. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, and maintain high quality learner-centred instruction. A faculty member is also required to work collaboratively with all TR Department members. Involvement in Department and Faculty initiatives is encouraged.

• A Master's degree (PhD preferred) in Therapeutic Recreation or a closely related field. A Bachelor degree may be considered for practicum supervision positions.
• A minimum of one credential must have a major in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation, or Leisure Studies.
• Knowledge of cultural diversity and ability to work with people of varying ages and abilities.
• Knowledge and experience in a range of Therapeutic Recreation practice settings is an asset
• Knowledge and experience of the Therapeutic Recreation process and foundational principles of the Therapeutic Recreation profession
• A range of teaching experiences with post-secondary teaching experience an asset and have demonstrated a strong commitment to innovative approaches to teaching and learning
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to work cooperatively in a team setting
• The ability to use online learning platforms is required for on-line and in-person teaching
